7th Grade Player Development Programme (PDP)

The PDP programme which is run by Island Bay Junior Soccer, is designed to assist players aged 5-7yrs to develop the basic soccer skills through direct coaching, fun, practice and competitive games

The PDP programme is run every Saturday morning throughout the season at Wakefield Park from 9:00 – 10:30am. 12 mini fields are created and up to 120 players who are placed into teams of 10 can play. Each team has a different colour shirt from which the team takes its name. eg 07-Green.

All the shirts are numbered and for the first 3-5 weeks the teams will train separately and then split into 2 teams of 5. Using bibs they will play a 2 x 15 minute game.

During the first 3-5 weeks the coaches will be evaluating the players ability and then split the team into two equal strength teams of 5 players each. This will then be confirmed by reallocating the team shirts so that one team plays in the odd numbers and the other team in the even numbers. At this stage the team games will then be reorganised against the other coloured Island Bay teams
