Coaches
Each team will need a Coach and a Manager.
Please do give some consideration to whether you would be able to assist with the coaching / managing of your child’s team.
The courses listed below are a great place to start, to get ideas and a bit of confidence.
Coaching Workshops
We strongly encourage you to attend these courses, as it will equip you with skills and ideas, and will help you get more enjoyment out of the practices and the season. Visit the above website to select a time most suitable for you to attend a suitable coaching course.
Coaching course costs will be subsidised 50% by Island Bay Junior Football.
Small Whites Coaching Award – for ‘Netball Mums’ and ‘Rugby Dads’
Level 1 Coaching course (2 days) - For those wanting to increase their knowledge of coaching techniques and learn new training drills.
The workshops will include some practical elements on how to plan, organise and conduct effective and fun coaching sessions for young players.
If you’re after some fun activities to aid your players development then these workshops are for you. More details are available in Newsletter 2 on the Newsletters and Events Page.

Team Management
The successful organisation of the Island Bay Junior Soccer Club relies on a number of people working together. These roles include Team Managers, Coaches and Grade Co-ordinators.
Team Managers support the coach through team administration; issuing and return of all club gear and equipment; and various administrative duties. A full description and tips for the Team Manager's role can be downloaded here.
Grade Coordinators support the team managers and coaches and act as a communication channel. Grade co-cordinators responsibilities include collating team results and forwarding these to the Results coordinator, and ensuring team managers receive reminders.
